MVH Construction Selected as Graduate Student Project by Florida SBDC at USF

We are proud to share that MVH Construction, LLC has been named the Graduate Student Project recipient at the 2026 Florida SBDC at USF Performance Awards.

Being selected for this project is a recognition in itself — and one we do not take lightly.

What the Project Entailed

A graduate team from the University of South Florida, under the direction of Dr. Jim Taylor, worked directly with MVH Construction over the course of the year as part of USF's Patel College of Global Sustainability program. Their assignment: conduct a professional-level analysis of a real Tampa Bay business undergoing meaningful strategic growth.

They chose MVH.

The student team brought the rigor of a consulting engagement to our business — evaluating our market position, operations, financial feasibility, branding, and long-term growth strategy as we scale our commercial construction practice across Tampa Bay. Their work covered ground-up commercial shell construction, tenant buildout services, and the business development strategies that connect the two.

Patricia Vergara and I were in the room when they presented. The quality of thinking was not what you'd expect from a classroom exercise. These students treated MVH like a real client — because we were one.

Why This Recognition Matters

The Florida SBDC at USF Performance Awards honor the student projects that exemplified the highest standard of real-world business engagement. Being selected as that project means the program saw MVH as a company worth serious study — a business with a clear growth trajectory, a differentiated position in the market, and the kind of strategic complexity that produces genuine learning.
